INTRODUCTORY GOLF COURSES: ALLOW EVERYONE TO DISCOVER THE GOLF EXPERIENCE
We are welcome by Mr. Patrick Foy, Head Golf Pro. What we learn from our discussions with Patrich Foy is that he is driven by the passion of sport.
“My aim is to charm Mauritian people, to welcome them and make golf accessible to everyone”. Patrick Foy.
In fact, the Head Golf Pro of Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita aims at allowing everyone to experience the passion for golf, a sport that he particularly likes since many years. He targets especially who are used to play football, basketball but not golf. This represents the state of mind of Four Seasons which is presently teaching 300 Mauritian kids how to play golf. This is why these introductory courses are offered to the general public every day at 15h00, weekend inclusive.
Another proof of this democratization process, the Four Seasons Golf Club offers special packages to Mauritius, to both the golf course and Il Forno restaurant, where they may enjoy the magnificent view on the 18th hole and on the sea while relishing the exquisite cuisine of Chef Raj.
THE FOUR SEASONS GOLF ACADEMY AND ITS TRACKMAN: A TECHNOLOGIE UNIQUE IN MAURITIUS
The Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita Golf Academy is specialized in improving the level of game practiced by amateurs and professional golfers.
It was Pierre-Noel Quirin, one of the 3 instructors of the Academy, who has coached us during our 1-hour session. Pierre made his debut in the golfing world at the age of 13 years old as golf caddie. He shows great passion and enthusiasm to share his know-how with others.
After a few shots, he introduced the technology used to help players improve their game. He showed two cameras to us which takes frontal footage of the players when he executes a swing. The images are then broadcasted on a Plasma TV screen to make live analysis of the shot played.
However, the exclusive feature of the Academy, unique in Mauritius, remains the Trackman. It is a high-tech device which records the trajectory of the ball to be played, the height at which the latter reaches, the distance travelled, the angle of attack, the speed among others.
IL FORNO RESTAURANT: CONVIVIAL
Il Forno restaurant with view over the 18th hole and the sea, offers a simple and diverse menu targeting both Mauritians and foreigners. We have visited its superb location to taste some exclusive dishes while looking back on our activities of the day and our golfing performance.
For lunch, the house specialty remains the customised burger. The menu also includes Mediterranean and Italian dishes prepared in a traditional pizza oven. In the evening, the menu is mostly Italian.
