It seems that the lush green lawn is softly whispering to golf players from the whole world. The Mont Choisy golf course, whose lawn has been specially cultivated for the 18-hole international course, is so soft that it makes us wonder if we should remove our shoes or put on hastily our golf ones to step on the tee box. Mont Choisy Le Golf, designed by Peter Matkovich, was inaugurated on Wednesday the 18th of October last. A double-edged atmosphere prevailed on that occasion which Luxury Mauritius attended : the silence of the golf course and the dynamic cocktail reception and entertainments in honour of the main guest, golf !
A golf course designed by Peter Matkovich
On setting foot on Mont Choisy Le Golf, a set of visual stimulations catches us: the splash of an array of blues in the sky, the azure shades of the lagoon, the golden brightness of the North of Mauritius, the warm tints of the protected natural environment, and the dark grey colonial-era stones… And also that special silent atmosphere so much valued by golf lovers!
At the heart of the 250 acres of Mont Choisy le Parc (which hosts 210 residential units and a Club House), the golf course has been designed by the legendary golfer Peter Matkovich, who was inspired, 18 years ago, by the stone chimney overseeing the tee-box. The South African golfer is an internationally-known golf course designer. Other than being one of South Africa’s most prolific and successful golf course designers, having designed more than 20 world-class ones in his country – Pinnacle Point, Zebula, De Zalze, Ebotse, Element and Woodhill -, he has also designed or built golf courses in Mauritius (the local Avalon Golf Estate too), Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Namibia and Malawi, and has renovated more than 20 others.

Mauritian golf high in the sky of international golf
Mont Choisy Le Golf perfectly suits the high expectations of a world-class course and includes a series of facilities and services where everyone can learn and improve their golfing skills – from the professional player who is aiming at winning the next tournament to the regular golfer wanting to enjoy a weekly round. This course has also gone green as it favours natural resources management and enduring development. With a length of 6 245 meters and employing a hundred 100, the golf course is irrigated by treated water brought from the Wastewater Management and thousands of endemic plants from Mauritius have been reintroduced on it.
