Is there any greater reward for a real estate agency than testimonials from satisfied clients? To penetrate the secret of Villa Vie’s 35 years of ongoing success, the agency directors, Françoise Maujean and Sophie Hardy, have invited me to follow them on a typical workday. I am more than pleased! So, we make an appointment for the next day…
My journey starts with a visit of the agency in Pereybere. I am captivated by the warm wooden and white tones of the entrance. A message on the wall reads: “Your dream starts here…” This is not hard to believe. The team welcomes me with a smile. While Françoise pours me a cup of coffee, Cristel and Sheena do the talking. Mary Ann and Dominique have already left for their usual rounds: the whole team is rarely present at the office at the same time.
We get in the car and drive about one kilometre to the Villa Crécerelle. There, I meet a German couple, the Wanek, who have fallen in love with Mauritius. They have regularly chosen to spend their holidays in this beautiful villa. I can totally understand why: it opens up on one of Grand Baie’s most splendid beaches. Nibbling on a fruit salad (which has freshly been prepared by Marie-Claire, the home helper), Ralf confides that Villa Vie has spared no effort to make their dream holidays a reality.
“Our airport transfer is arranged, the fridge is full and a hot meal is served on our arrival. We are truly spoiled!” he says.
Sophie seizes the opportunity to recount how it all started. At the beginning, Villa Vie was specialised in seasonal rental. With Françoise’s natural sense of hospitality and flair for spotting exceptional properties, the agency found its way to success and made a solid reputation for itself.
As we leave Grand Baie for Cap Malheureux, Sophie carries on. When she joined the agency in 2011, she expanded the business with three additional services: long-term rental, domestic property sale and foreign acquisition. The latter encouraged some regular vacationers to take the leap of expatriation… After all, what could stop them from starting a new life, here, in Mauritius?
In Cap Malheureux, I meet Caroline and Emmanuel, who have just fulfilled their dream. The retired couple has recently moved from France and is now settling in their Mauritian beachfront villa. They owe the discovery of this gem to Mary Ann and Dominique: “By being professional, responsive and sensitive to our needs, they helped us find our own little corner of paradise… Every day, we feel blessed for what we have!”
We leave Caroline and Emmanuel to their moving boxes and head for our next visit in Calodyne. The Mauritian owners have been renting their house for a while now. “We truly appreciated Villa Vie’s enthusiasm for our house. Mary-Ann and Dominique suggested that we do a few improvements to make it more attractive to potential tenants. This gave us more confidence. After one month, our house was rented.”
On our way back, we stop by to greet Christian and Laurence. The French couple has bought an IRS property via Villa Vie, which they have decided to rent out to establish their own home on the seaside.
They tell us about the service they received: “Those who are looking to rent or buy a property in Mauritius are lucky to have Villa Vie. This family business is infused with authentic Mauritian values. The team has been very attentive and helpful in providing guidance in our best interest.”
What is indeed the secret of Villa Vie? While the agency can boast an extensive experience in the real estate business, which has surely been key to its longevity, it owes much of its success to the human qualities it shows. Sophie agrees to this: “We are proud to offer a clear-cut approach to our clients. We make sure that their needs and desires are fully understood. In this way, we can provide them with effective support, whatever their real estate project may be.”
I en up my visit in delight and with the deep conviction that Villa Vie really is the first step to your dream!
