The Long Beach Golf & Spa in Belle Mare will soon be celebrating the ocean. On the 8th of September, it will host the Ocean Active Festival Mauritius 2018. From 9 a.m to 9 p.m, sports lovers, families, children, nature enthusiasts, DJs and organisers will gather to promote a new way of sensitizing the public on the preservation of marine ecology. Here is the programme!
OAF : an new ecology-friendly and festive event
The Ocean Active Festival (OAF) has been devised to bring the ocean in the limelight. This festival, a first in the Indian Ocean, will give water sports fans the opportunity to compete in a splendid setting. And the Long Beach definitely lends itself perfectly for such an event with its vast lagoon facing the Eastern winds.
The impassioned organisers have worked in close collaboration to set up the Ocean Active Festival: Alex Dalais, the South African DJ of Mauritian origin (also Director of Hot on Top); RSVP Events (private organiser of sports events in Mauritius such as trails and the Necker Pro Squash Open), and Christophe Tyack, local sportsman (water sports organiser in windsurf, kitesurf and surf).
Beach celebrations: sports, funny activities and music
Everyone is welcomed at the Ocean Active Festival: sport lovers, music fans and families.
On the sports side, different races are programmed: trail, open water swimming, stand up paddle, Optimist, Laser, kayak, Windsurf and Kitesurf. Mathieu Marquet, a Mauritian swimming team member, will assist the OAF.
For the children: the Kids Village will be a key venue of the festival and can accommodate up to 100 children in several activities (sand castle competition, beach games, ocean workshop and ocean makeup, among others).
On the music side : three international DJs, selected by Alex Dalais, has created a varied show – Good Luck (South African trio specialised in an electro and pop mix with jazz influences); Matsonic (electro), and Brett Aitken (house music with garage and tech house influences).
The Sun Resorts group, through its enduring development SunCare programme, is in partnership with the NGO Eco-Sud and Lagon Bleu project.
