Looking for a Mauritian lifestyle? Discover it with SALT of Palmar. The new hotel launched by Paul Jones, founder and CEO of hotels LUX*, has opened last November and has the particularity of offering a total immersion in a Mauritian art-de-vivre.
This new concept redefines the parameters of the island’s hospitality and this has been inspired by the warm welcome of the Mauritians and their very typical way of life. So, every hotel guest may interact with the locals and share a moment with them. According to Paul Jones, Mauritius is a mixture of “exotic beauty of history and modernity” who has more to offer than its beautiful beach
Discover local craftmanship
With the ‘Skill Swap’, a concept of SALT of Palmar, guests can discover the typical crafts of the island daily. In the agenda: pottery workshop in Pamplemousses; fishing at dawn; football training with a local team, and even the manufacturing of straw baskets. A variety of activities to immerse yourself completely in the Mauritian culture. At SALT, each customer will receive a brand new guide “ça c’est Maurice” which lists the typical craftsmen.
The discovery of Mauritians and their jobs
Another new feature, guests can discover everyday ways to operate in the hospitality industry. Employees will make them discover the work on a farm, the cooking of the chicken curry, the use of local instruments, and how to dance the sega with Mauritian artists.
This unique hotel is the first SALT to be opened. And Mauritius was the place chosen, thanks to its very rich, distinct, and exotic culture. With its Oriental architecture, its attractive colors (with stripes in the background), its typical menus for vegans or gluten free eaters, and a riad, which opens onto the sea, SALT of Palmar also presents itself as the first sustainable hotel in Mauritius with his concept of no plastic and no waste.
